Since December 2022, all of us here have been working away behind the scenes on a brand new super-luxe guesthouse, just two doors down from The Bull Freehouse!
Sam & Ben spent most of 2022 looking for the perfect property, and found it in what has become The Pear Tree Inn; a former residential property, originally a farmer’s cottage, dating back to the 1760s.
After thinking how we could continue to elevate and expand on the experience we strive to give each one of our amazing customers while they’re with us at The Bull, a conclusion was reached: a premium seven bedroom guesthouse, complete with jacuzzi spa baths, rainfall showers, copper tubs, and Somnus Countess mattresses, seemed perfect. You can enjoy a meal with us in our award-winning pub, and then retire to one of our amazing bedrooms and enjoy a true getaway from the everyday, complete with one of the best breakfasts in Suffolk to follow in the morning – what could possibly be better?!
However, the need to stand out hovered in our minds – and so we decided to think about the little things that niggle us when we go away! Poor, asthmatic hairdryers, tinny Bluetooth speakers, and plastic kettles all sprang to mind. This led to one big decision being made: Dyson hairdryers, Bang & Olufsen speakers, and Lavazza A Mio Modo coffee machines would furnish all of our rooms, providing a truly luxurious level of home comfort. We like to do it properly.
So with brave hearts, a big box full of Dyson hairdryers, and wacky ideas, contracts were drawn up, keys were exchanged and the property became ours in December 2022.
In January 2023, plans were submitted to convert this former farmer’s cottage into a gorgeous guesthouse. By February, plans were approved, contractors arrived, and the real work (and lots of it…) really began!
The next step of the project was deciding what The Pear Tree Inn should look like – should it mirror the style of The Bull? Should each room have a similar colour scheme, or be different? Should it evoke a feeling of outlandish luxury or cosy countryside escape? With so many options to choose from, there were some serious decisions to be made.
